May was a really strange month for me reading-wise. Up until the 18th May I was absolutely buried in exam revision and actual exams. I didn't have any time to read fiction. My time was spent reading books about animal behaviour, scientific journals and the odd manga I could squeeze in. So, in the last twelve days of May, I packed ten books in!
I absolutely adore Bunny Drop, it's really tender and sweet and has a really nice style of illustration. It's quickly become one of my favourite manga. I was also really enthralled by Red Azalea and Room. In fact, I loved Room so much, I made my husband drop the books he was reading in favour of Room immediately after finishing it.
I was disappointed with Tender Morsels, I'd heard really good things about it, but to me it was just an averagely-written book with a mildly shocking storyline. Castle in the Air was also a bit flat, basically just a re-jigging of Aladdin. Oh, and Bridget Jones' Diary was as annoying and pompous as I remembered it. It makes me incandescent with rage that Bridget/Helen Fielding class a 9 stone grown woman to be 'whale-size'. GRRR.

I tried reading Tender Morsels- I too heard many good things- but was quite disturbed by the storyline O_o I'll have to check out Bunny Drop- I'm always on the lookout for new mangas!

Room is such an amazing book! Reading it was exhausting as it was so frightening/exciting/disturbing. I could not put it down! x
ReplyDeleteBunny Drop is lovely Zia, just holding it feels nice, it's so well produced. I always feel like such a nerd noticing things like that! Haha.
ReplyDeleteI agree Nick, Room was brilliant! I'd love to read more by the author!
